Individual Therapy:

Often a person finds himself or herself needing to do some personal work privately to further their personal growth and  address inner struggles.
In a safe and authentic therapy relationship individuals can develop the capacity for increased enjoyment and meaning in life.  Together, we identify the areas that are causing distress and some possible avenues for relieving that distress.
I see individuals in psychotherapy for numerous areas of concern:

• Difficulties in primary relationships, extended family, or in-laws
• Depression or anxiety
• Current or past traumas; physical, sexual, mental, or emotional
• Desires to parent more effectively or increase the parent/child bond
• General feelings of dissatisfaction in quality of life

Some of the methods I draw on to assist the individual in realizing his or her goals may include:

• Talking and exploring thoughts and feelings.
• Gaining insight on how past events may be influencing current stresses
• Use of Mindfulness techniques
• Parts work
• Understanding and working with dreams
• Variations of Emotional Regulation tools  to work through traumas
• Journals and Writing to explore and understand issues from another angle
• Defining  steps which lead to change that one may practice from week to week

Substance Use Counseling:

Helping individuals  overcome alcoholism or other types of addictions, such as to intoxicants or painkillers and cope with life's stresses makes up one off my core commitments.

I see individuals in substance abuse therapy for numerous areas of concern:

• Cannabis Use
• Alcohol Use
  
• Stimulant Use
• Opioid Use

I  start by evaluating your mental and physical health, addictive behaviors and openness to treatment, which is the first step in writing your individualized treatment plan.
Depending on the complexity of the problem, you and I will determine the best course of action even if that requires calling in other professionals, such as psychiatrists and Case managers.

DOT Substance Abuse Professional (SAP):

I evaluate workers who have violated a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol program regulation and make recommendations concerning education, treatment, follow-up testing and continuing care.
Specifically, I:

• Conduct comprehensive face-to-face assessment and clinical evaluation to determine what level of assistance the employee needs in resolving problems associated with alcohol use or prohibited drug use;
• Recommend a course of education and/or treatment with which the employee must comply prior to returning to DOT safety-sensitive duty;
• Serve as a referral source to assist the employee’s entry into an acceptable program;
• Conduct a face-to-face follow-up evaluation with the employee to determine if the individual has demonstrated successful compliance with recommendations of the initial evaluation and has made appropriate clinical progress sufficient to return to duty;
• Develop and direct a follow-up testing plan for the employee returning to work following successful compliance; and
• Provide the employee and employer with recommendations for continuing care.
